“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
— Jesus Christ (John 14)

We believe that our only hope for true life comes through Jesus Christ.  This belief is rooted in our understanding of Who God is, who we are, and how we relate to Him.

GOD CREATED AND RELATED

God made the entire universe.  It was very good because He is very good.  He made women and men in His image.  Humans were built to listen to, work for, and rely on God.  But they made a decision that messed up their relationship with God.

HUMANS REBELLED

Adam and Eve, the first humans, rebelled against God by breaking a basic command.  They acted like they were their own masters—like they didn’t need God—like what He said didn’t matter.

When Adam and Eve acted this way, they plunged themselves and the entire world into the darkness of rebellion against God.  Every human after Adam and Eve has entered into this darkness.

We breathe this atmosphere of rebellion against God, and we make rebellious, self-centered decisions, not even thinking or caring about God.  Because of this, we deserve to be punished by God.

GOD DREW NEAR

But God hasn't left us alone, and He hasn't given us the punishment we deserve.  He sent His Son, Jesus, to change us from His enemies into His children.

Jesus, fully God, became fully human as well.  Unlike all other humans, Jesus lived without a hint of rebellion against God.  He came to restore and heal and rescue.  He made lame people walk.  He made blind people see.  He fed hungry people.  He told people that God's Kingdom was right at their fingertips!

Then, at age 33, Jesus took on the punishment that humans deserved.  He was crucified by an angry mob.  That day, on that cross, God punished Jesus even though He had done nothing wrong.  Jesus, fully God and fully man, died in our place.

He didn't stay dead, though.  He defeated death!

GOD OFFERS HUMANS TRUE LIFE

After 3 days in the grave, Jesus rose again to new life.  Then, after showing Himself to many eyewitnesses, He ascended into heaven at God's right hand.

He lives forever, He's making all things new, and He offers life that never ends to anyone who trusts in Him as the risen Lord.

That's why we, the people of Red Cedar Church, love and follow Jesus.
